Programs – Toy Library

Making the Toy Library easy to use

To help families feel more welcome Cubby House Toy Library is pleased to:

  • provide visual support systems for the use by families,
  • now be part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, an initiative supported by Toy Libraries Australia and
  • offer Assisted Borrowing sessions

Visual Supports

We have created a visual story of all the steps to take when you come to the Toy Library. This video explains how to use the visuals.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

The Hidden Disability Sunflower Program resources are now displayed at the toy library.

Feel free to use the resources available where you enter the library. This program helps raise awareness of non-visible disabilities and lets nenbers know that support is available whether it’s:

  • a little extra time,
  • understanding, or
  • space to play.

By joining the program, Cubby House Toy Library is showing our commitment to being an inclusive community where every child and family feels understood, supported, and welcome. The sunflower symbols are available to be worn by volunteers and team at the toy library.

Ideas so that every child of every ability has:

  • lots of great play and activities to do
  • opportunities to learn through play
  • support to families to know how to help their children learn

because play matters!

Inclusion

EarlyEd’s approach to child’s play focuses on making sure ideas are inclusive of all children of all abilities.  We incorporate strategies that support all children and find ways to make sure all children are part of the action.

Concerns about your child’s development

The Toy Library team can put you in touch with our early childhood intervention Team Leader and allied health staff (early educators, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and physiotherapists) if you need advice.

They can also advice you about local supported programs such as MyTime.
