Planning for Your NDIS Review

NDIS review

Before your NDIS plan finishes you will need to have a review. EarlyEd has some tips to help you prepare for your NDIS review. We suggest you take the following information with you to the review meeting.

Progress Report
Ensure that you have a progress report from your provider. Ask them to explain the areas of success and improvement. Explain how the supports made a difference.

What differences do you see?
What changes have you noticed in your child?

Is your plan working for you?
Consider what stage you, your child and family were at a year ago. Was your plan over the last year suitable? How could it work better for you?

What do you wish you had known a year ago?
What information do you need to know about your child’s future to help you with your planning?  Last year, were there services you didn’t know about?

Money not used
Explain why at the review you couldn’t get the services you wanted (In the first year most families find it hard to get started). Explain what a different the extra services would have made.

Services not used
If you didn’t use all the services you thought you would use, think about how you could use the funds differently e.g. school holiday programs, parent training workshops such as Hanen or support while at vacation care.

Were there any items in your plan that you haven’t needed?
Think about a way to structure your plan so it can be more flexible.

What is missing from your existing plan for this next year? What does your child need to achieve this year?
What do you need to add? E.g. if your child is going to start school next year what supports might you need.

How has your plan fitted into your daily life?
Has it been manageable or a burden? What changes do you need to make it fit with your family’s routines?

Does your child need a diagnosis?
When your child is 6 years old, they will need a diagnosis to qualify for NDIS funding. If your child doesn’t have one you will need to start organising how to get one. EarlyEd can help you find out what you need to do.

Support for you
Support for you as a parent is important. Has your plan provided for you too?  EarlyEd can help parents support their child better. This might be a group training session or attending a parent session.

EarlyEd can help you plan.
EarlyEd is here to help. Your key worker can talk through all these issues and more.  If you are feeling overwhelmed by the process, call us and talk it through.
