How Frogmouth Found her Home by Ambelin Kwaymullina
We will be celebrating National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day during Online Storytime.
Unlike the other birds, Frogmouth did not want to live in trees, so instead, she crosses the land in search of a place to call home. On the way, she meets many animals, kindly helps them find a home of their own until finally she finds her own place where she feels most comfortable.
How can reading How Frogmouth found her home support your child’s learning?
- Explores the important theme of belonging and identity.
- Use simple and engaging language that is easy for young children to understand.
- The text matches the illustrations, helping children connect written words with visual images. This can help deepen their understanding of the story.
- Introduces new vocabulary.
- Features bright and colourful illustrations of Australian animals and bushland that can support understanding of the story.
