Medicare and Private Health Funds
EarlyEd services and programs can be funded using your child’s
- NDIS package
- Medicare and
- Private Health Fund.

The following EarlyEd early interventionist staff are eligible to be Medicare and Private Health providers:
- speech pathologists
- physiotherapists
- occupational therapists.
Medicare and Private Health funds can help if you/your child
- need short term therapy
- need specialist services e.g. feeding
- want to monitor your baby/child’s development
- are not eligible for NDIS
- are waiting for NDIS or
- need extra assessments for example to get a diagnosis or support at school.

Medicare
Services provided by our speech pathologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists can be partially subsidised by Medicare.
There are a number of Medicare plans that your child may be eligible for.
- GP chronic condition management plans (GPCCMP) (Formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC)) – Patients are eligible if they have at least one medical condition that has been or is likely to be present for at least 6 months. They receive up to 5 individual allied health services per calendar year. Please click here for more information on the Service Australia website.
- Complex neurodevelopmental disorders (such as autism) Services – which provides for children under 25 a total of 8 assessment services and 20 treatment services per patient per lifetime
- Eligible Disabilities Services – which provides for children under 25 a total of 8 assessment services and 20 treatment services per patient per lifetime. Medicare have expanded their list of eligible disabilities to persons with stuttering, speech sound disorders and cleft lip and/or palate. How to Access: Talk to your GP as they will need to give you a referral with details of which services you can claim for under which Medicare plan.
Private Health Fund
Services provided by our speech pathologists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists can be partially subsidised using your private health insurance. If you plan to use your private health insurance, contact your private health insurance provider to find out what they will or won’t cover.
Not all EarlyEd services will be covered so it is important to always check to see what and how much you can claim back from your private health insurance.
