Our range of professionals includes:
Our early childhood special educators are trained early childhood teachers with additional knowledge about children with special needs. They look at all aspects of your child’s development. They can suggest new ways of playing that will help your child to develop skills including social, communication, hand co-ordination, gross motor and problem-solving.
They are available to support you and your child during their transition to pre-school and on to “big school”. They are able to visit the preschool / school to discuss ways to help your child to be included in the new setting.
The physiotherapists will show you how to help your child develop gross motor skills such as learning to crawl, walk and jump. They can provide ideas on positioning so that your child is able to play and explore his/her surroundings.
The speech pathologists work closely with the educators to help your child develop communication skills. They have specialised knowledge on issues relating to feeding problems, articulation difficulties, signing, use of visual materials, and extension of current language.
The occupational therapists help you to develop your child's independence in areas such as feeding, dressing, toileting and bathing. They also have specialist knowledeg about sensory issues and hand skills.
They work closely to support you and your child during their transition to
school.
The family support worker provides families with an opportunity to discuss issues of concern to them. She runs parent groups, sibling support groups, information sessions and assistance in accessing resources.
The classroom assistants work closely with the teacher in the groups to implement your child’s programme. The assistant is responsible for setting up the groups by making sure that appropriate craft materials are available and cleaning materials are on hand.
