Our team

Families know their child best and are the decision-makers about what happens for their child and family.

Our transdisciplinary team combines the expertise of a range of professionals who support and work in partnership with families to establish the family's goals, which form the basis for the intervention provided.

At EarlyEd, we work in a transdisciplinary way which means that the goals that have been set for your child will be implemented in all sessions your child attends at EarlyEd, irrespective of the professional background of the team member.

Our range of professionals includes:

Early childhood special educators who are trained early childhood teachers with additional knowledge about children with special needs. They look at all aspects of your child’s development. They can suggest new ways of playing that will help your child to develop skills including social, communication, hand co-ordination, gross motor and problem-solving.

Family support workers who provide families with an opportunity to discuss issues of concern to them as well as runnning parent groups, sibling support groups, information sessions and assistance in accessing resources.

Occupational therapists who can help you to develop your child's independence in areas such as feeding, dressing, toileting and bathing. They also have specialist knowledege about sensory issues and hand skills.

Physiotherapists who will show you how to help your child develop gross motor skills such as learning to crawl, walk and jump. They can provide ideas on positioning so that your child is able to play and explore his/her surroundings.

Speech pathologists who have specialised knowledge on issues relating to feeding problems, articulation difficulties, signing, use of visual materials, and extension of current language.

Music Therapist who uses music therapy to address children's communication behavioural and social skills. She works closely with other team members.

Our classroom assistants work closely with the team in the group programmes to implement your child’s programme. The assistant is responsible for setting up the groups by making sure that appropriate craft materials are available and cleaning materials are on hand.
